Australian National Curriculum Advisor suspended for racism, sexism
Professor Barry Spur is an Australian academic advising the government on changes to the national curriculum, a scheme similar to America's common core. He has "advised the Government to focus less on teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander literature and place greater emphasis on western Judeo-Christian culture".

The professor has now been suspended by the University of Sydney over a series of emails where he:
* "referred to Prime Minister Tony Abbott as an "Abo-lover" and Nelson Mandela as a "darky"."
* "described Aboriginal people as "human rubbish tips""
* "reminisced about the 1950s, when there were not so many "bogans", "fatsoes", "Mussies" and "Chinky-poos" around"

"Professor Spurr, a specialist in poetry and poetics who has been at the university for 38 years, defended the emails, telling news website New Matilda they were mainly to one recipient and were part of a "whimsical" game to outdo one another in extreme statements."

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

It's Australia, this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. You're a very racist country.

What an amateur. You should hear what comes out when me and my brother attempt to offend each other.

Good.

But I agree with him on one thing; we need fewer bogans.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

To me possibly the most interesting thing going on here is the politicisation of curriculum that is controlled centrally. In Australia the national curriculum is becoming a political football, and next election cycle I expect common core in the US to start to undergo similar politically-motivated changes.
