Hell I just got the car at the first of 2015 so I haven't had it very long myself. It had around 73,000 miles on it when I got it and now it has 116,000 miles on it.

Take it to the Honda dealer for a second opinion. Mechanics at dealers typically are salaried (many in my area make over $100K) and don't work on commission so they generally tell you straight. Cost you twice as much to get it fixed there though. But it'll be done right so there's some peace of mind in that.
