I think both, in my case.

I definitely see the influence it has in otherwise secular aspects of life way more than I did when I was Christian. That being said, I thought about things in a more religious way when I was still Christian. For example, if something happened in a certain, seemingly random way, I'd think "maybe God wants it that way" or "maybe God's trying to tell me something". Every time something annoying would happen in traffic (like be getting stuck at a light because of someone not going when it was green), I'd think "maybe God saved me from an accident". I did that shit all the time, even when I knew I was just making things up.

When I was Christian, I hated the Westboro Baptist Church for slandering Christianity. Now, I salute them for taking such a radical stance, because they helped me break my Christian chains.
