Oh, yes yes yes yes yes! I love these books. They're by Stacia Kane. Absolutely, very highly recommend. Can you tell I am a fangirl of these? Yes? 'Cause I am. Tongue

I can't do romance novels. They make me feel all icky inside. I do however have some fantasy books that have SOME romance in them. Those I can do. Big Grin

I also really like the Sirantha Jax series by Ann Aguirre. It's Sci-Fi but the romance between Sirantha and March is oh so nice. March is one of my fictional crushes. Along with Terrible from the Downside Ghosts series by Stacia Kane that was mentioned above. Big Grin

I should say that technically the Downside Ghosts novels ARE NOT romance. They're urban fantasy, but they do have a romance as a subplot. It's the same with the Ann Aguirre series, though the romantic aspect might be just a bit heavier in that one.

I read romance novels when I was younger. My two favorite authors were Danielle Steele and Johanna Lindsey.

Don't judge a book by its title.

These are very, very good.
Lots of action, mystery, twists, turns, characters are gritty and flawed as you would expect real people to be.
I'm a guy and even I like the romance in this book (of which there is plenty). Terrible's not handsome, he's not rich, he's a thug. But makes me look like a chump partner to my wife. Chess is a self loathing drug addict but you can't help but love her.

I can't recommend these books enough.

The closest thing to romance I can recommend is the Anita Blake series. Way better than Twilight!

I have laughed, in bitterness and agony of heart, at the contrast between what I seem and what I am!
