Forgive me for not knowing this but just because he is a navy mutt, wouldn't you still have to salute him? Or perhaps make him British: Commodore Barkminster Furrius Droolington Brian Woofenstein IV?

Yes I would still have to salute a navy RALH. I could demote Barkley to Petty Officer First Class.
