Video Awkward things not to watch with your parents/kids
I was thinking about this the other day. What movie/show did you ever watch with your parents (or kids) that really made for a awkward watch?

The one that comes to my mind was when I watched "Rob Roy" with my dad. The scene where Tim Roth rapes Jessica Lange was very awkward to me. I have watched movies with my parents before that had sex scenes in it and it was fine, but that one was really uncomfortable for some reason.

Anyone else have this kind of thing happen?

........this is so funny and sad. I didn't watch anything with my parents/mom (dad left when I was 2) because she wouldn't keep a TV in the house. It would have caused us to miss the rapture and the millions of spirits that would have made their bed in our house would have been suffocating. The first time I owned a TV was my first year in college.

True Blood was definitely awkward to watch with my parents. I recall watching the very first episode with them, they never watched another after that and looking back that episode was pretty tame compared to later on.

The win for most awkward moment between a parent and a kid I ever witnessed was during a game of Cards Against Humanity though. Played with a mother and son, and mom was the judge for the round, the card was something along the lines of "What would be awkward to act out in a game of charades" and the son played "Oedipus Complex".

When I was a kid I went to see Forrest Gump in the theatre with my parents, aunt and uncle, brother, and two cousins. I didn't understand a lot of the sex references because I was 8 and hadn't yet learned about the birds and the bees, but the scene with Jenny playing the guitar naked at the strip club as well as the sex scene that started with her letting Forrest grab her boob - yep, pretty awkward.

Now I could watch probably anything just short of porn with my mom. My cousin, mom, aunt and I went to see Magic Mike together. The twins were unimpressed, mom even fell asleep, but my cousin and I loved it. It was fun. Not awkward. If anything, the twins over share with my cousin and me covering our ears "Oh my god, mom, stahp! I need brain bleach. I don't want to know about your outdoor sexcapades!" There's usually a lot of wine, vodka or champagne involved with these conversations - which typically happen while watching The Bachelor.

Sounds obvious for an atheist (though no one except my brother knows) but movies involving the Catholic Church. Although my mother was raised French Catholic in Nova Scotia, she no longer attends RC churches. However I tend to want to make comments about Catholicism, some of which she didn't know.

But other than that, movies with women like Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johansson, etc. Mostly because I get the urge to drool heavily.

Really lots or times. Too many times in fact.

Once the older kid and I watched The Groove Tube or maybe Kentucky Fried Movie...

Anyway the opening scene was a dude running completely naked. I had forgotten all about it.

He was like 9 or 10.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Wow. And I thought I had it rough with our one TV from 1972 with the antenna on the roof so we had to make a human communication chain to my dad on the roof so he could adjust the angle so we could watch football on sunday in the late 80's.

Here in Muffstown we call exposing your 9 year old son to a naked old man "giving him the Catholic experience".
