BLASPHEMY and thought crime -.-
So i was talking to my religious mother while assuming the position of the
religious moderate, we were discussing sharia and i was making the point of
how secularism is a better alternative and as usual i cornered her with the scary
"rational thinking" stuff until she said something
that made me wanna facepalm so hard it would release
megatons of energy >.<

"It's blasphemy to think about it or discuss it"
It's blasphemy to even think about reform and modernisation XD

The discussion with my mother ended when she changed the subject
and later i discussed it with my also religious brother,
also assuming the position of the religious moderate.
I pointed out the flaws of sharia and suggested that it should be reformed
and modernised to fit the drastic changes of society since tribalism and
he bought up how sharia can make a nation prosper, i got him on the internet
and we compared unemployment of Saudi Arabia (a country he was using in
high regard during our discussion) and Switzerland a secular democracy.

he gave me the same line
"It's blasphemy to think about it or discuss it"
and then proceeded to change the subject

This is what sets apart Islam from the other mass delusions, and what makes it significantly more
DANGEROUS.

-The literal reading of scripture and fear of even
thinking or discussing reform is considered blasphmey, even the so-called "moderates" advocate
stoning, lashing, amputation and death penalties for things like apostasy,
blasphemy, homosexuality, theft, etc.
-The concept of incarceration and re-education is non-existent.
And other concepts such as free speech, freedom of religion, seperation of church and state and
equality also have no place in Islam.
-When they think that allah will punish them for even considering
the rules of sharia objectively and look at the effects they have on a society (thought crime)
-Only using statistical or any other evidence when it supports their point and disregarding
anything else as blasphemy. (Quote mining? Evidence mining?)

So i urge anyone who reads this, dont be soft on Islam or even put it on the same platform as
other religions It is a violent religion and it should be treated no differently than a cult that performs
human sacrifice, indeed all the death penalties and violence against non believers and blasphemers are considered
a sacrifice to Allah, Yahweh the jewish god of terror and war.

One thing is clear though, ill stop discussing their retarded stoneage beliefs from now one, cuz their begining
to accuse me of blasphemy xD to them the bar for blasphemy is set very low.

I don't think this is solely in the realm of Islam. Although my Sunday School teacher did once give us a lesson about "Doubting Thomas" (a disciple of Jesus who didn't believe that the resurrected Jesus was who he claimed to be) and that it was alright to question God (He's there to quell your doubts), I've found that in practice Christians get hostile if you question the bible. This isn't true of all Christians, just as I doubt that all Muslims get angry at questioning the Qur'an. But it's still true about many of them, such as your mother.

BTW, Spellcheck hates the way I spell Qur'an. Spellcheck can suck it.

My girlfriend is mad at me. Perhaps I shouldn't have tried cooking a stick in her non-stick pan.

Actually the majority of muslims will have some sort of negative reaction if you
question the Quran except for mostly people who dont give a fuck and
apologists. The apologists take the nice guy approach cuz everybody knows
that if ur nice, it automatically makes all of your points valid.
but that was my point, you shouldnt treat islam on the same level of
christianity because even the different sects in islam all read the quran
literally, they just all differ on the history and stories of mohammeds life
(hadith).
