Beat me to it.

Did anybody really believe this Pope would actually be any different?

Despite all his condemnatory words his church still hides and protects child molesters; his church still covers for money laundering, they still condemn people wanting to die on their own terms, people who don't feel secure in having a child and/or who seek to prevent infection and/or transmission of disease and STIs.

After all the coverage they got with Pope Palpatine, the real heads made the best choice and picked a more suitable candidate; an otherwise lowly 'of the people' dude to placate the people and it's been made very clear that he isn't the head of the church and that he is a puppet; every time he has been reported to have said something favourable to anybody outside those he's supposed to be calming, especially if it upsets them, other catholic 'officials' have come out and stated he was wrong: the godtalker himself was wrong.

The Vatican isn't going to change its ways unless it is forced to, either by its constituents or by outside factors: until that happens they are just going to keep electing the most politically viable godhead they can get to suit their immediate purposes.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.
