Bad covers/remixes/samplings of songs you like.
I searched on whosampled.com to see if there were any tracks that sampled Sergei Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights. It's a really great piece of classical music and I was wondering if anyone had done anything interesting with it.

Turns out, no.

... I don't think I need to explain why this is garbage.

Here's the original song:

Anyone else heard songs they like get murdered? Post it. Accompanying rants are also good. I can think of more songs, but I'll wait for others to post before I add to the thread.

I might get some flak for this, but seeing this

turned into this:

and than seeing the latter become a huge hit really bugs me. Of course, I'm a huge blues fan, so I'm biased, but I still think that Moby didn't add anything to the song, other than a stupid beat and a maudlin video clip. Not to mention that the lyrics don't go with whatever he was going for with that clip...

Yeah, that was my little rent.

Long time fave band of mine The Accused (splatter rock) usually did some type of classic rock cover on each of their albums. They've done Boris the Spider, Barracuda, Paint It Black and Saturday Night Special all in their "splatter" rock style and pulled it off for the most part. Except for this one:

I admit that all of their covers are a little rough on the ears at first but this never grew on me.

Every cover that Joan Baez did is bad. I know of no other singer who can drain every bit of emotion from a song as she can. Pretty voice, no art.

Sheryl Crow trying to cover Stevie Nicks made me gag. I don't care for her anyway but Landslide needed to be left alone.

This trash appeared on the radio and gained a lot of popularity due to the fact that people liked the sample of supertramp in it not the actual song.

got quite a few more I could complain about but this one really pisses me off

I'm not a non believer, I believe in the possibility of anything. I just don't let the actuality of something be determined by a 3rd party.

Don't know the name of it, but that song in which Puff Daddy/P. Diddy/Diddy/Sean Combs sampled Kashmir By Zeppelin. It was kind of a hit, but I wanted to punch him in the face every time I heard it.

I know what you mean. What is the point of covering a song is it is going to sound EXACTLY the same. Laughat
