Have you any evidence for that? Sounds like a stretched metaphor to me.
Quick question, how do you split up the quotes in the post like the one you made here?

Notice that when you edit, there are matching sets of <quote> and </quote> tags (where "<" & ">" should be replaced with "[" & "]"

You can just type those in. If you are adding something within the quote, start with </quote> and end with <quote>.
