Fairy tales start with - "Once upon a time".
Faith starts with - "In the beginning".

Past that, and they're indistinguishable.

I agree they both come from the same area of human developmental psychology. The trouble is one ends up with dishes running away with spoons and the other in children believing in eternal damnation.

I think, what they are and where they came from is not the issue, as with everything, it's the use to which they are ultimately put.
