Big equipment
I love big equipment...... Dodgy ........odd looking farm tractors, dump trucks and bulldozers, that is. Angel

I like industrial machines that produce stuff we use, conveyer belts and manufacturing equipment, I find all that stuff interesting.

I operate big equipment, I get the attraction.
That's me up in Mt. Rainier National Park, armoring a slope above Narada Falls with a long reach excavator. Note the big steel plate added to the bottom of the counterweight.

here it is from the side for scale. Note the guy down the slope, putting some lumber in the bucket.

From the seat. It is a 60' reach machine.

Shocking

OMG. That's amazing.

I love this car shredder machine. It's fascinating and terrifying all at the same time. It's the Hammel VB 950DK Car Shredder, in case you're interested in buying one. Tongue

RE: Big equipment
When I was a young kid my dad was in college. He had been a heavy equipment mechanic in the Navy and during college he worked part time for a construction company we lived within walking distance of. They would leave a list of things for him to do and he and I would go there nights and weekends and he would work on the list of repairs and maintenance while I crawled all over the earth movers and road graders and such. Those big old Caterpillar machines were my babysitters and playgrounds from about ages 3-9. Smile

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

RE: Big equipment
I used to live in the San Joaquin Valley near Fresno and I'm driving along on a country road one day and look over and this tree is shaking like crazy. I thought, WTF? They had a machine that shakes the trees to get all the nuts off. Here it is.

Removing foot-thick concrete from the entrance building at Stevens Canyon
Like playing a real life game of Operation Smile

Putting in drain pipe during the reconstruction of a wall we called "the ampitheater", located on Stevens Canyon road in a slide chute. I slid straight down the slope in the foreground to get down there (wheee!), and the big excavator assisted me Bucket-a-Bucket to get back out. In the picture he is passing me the drain rock in his backward- mounted bucket.

For a few days I operated a self contained screen plant, removing bigger rocks from soil. This was the view from "the office".

Same parking lot, taken from where that plant was sitting on the first days of work.
I had to clear a spot to park my car.
