Big win??? What the actual fuck???
Iowa's delegates are awarded proportionately.

No one, Republican or Democrat, had a 'win', let alone a 'big win'.

Fuck the media, fucking hypesters.

Sure, but when has mass-market media ever not preferred a simplistic, dramatic story?
(hell, they're essentially forced into that angle by market share gamesmanship...)

You are right of course. The score is --

Democrats:
Clinton 22 delegates
Sanders 21 delegates

Republicans:
Cruz 8 delegates
Rubio 7 delegates
Trump 7 delegates
Carson 3 delegates
Paul 1 delegate
Bush 1 delegate

Just playing devil's advocate, here -- it's a "big" win for Cruz in the sense that nobody gave him a chance to win anything at all. The fact that he won is "big", regardless of the size of his margin. And since many people aren't giving Sanders much of a chance either, he could claim that basically coming even with Clinton is a "big win". It all depends on what you mean by "big".

... Cruz led Iowa polling for quite a while before the late (and evidently superficial) Trump increase. The real surprise from the Republican results was Rubio doing so well (so far portrayed as the establishment consolidating) and to a lesser extent Carson apparently still existing.

Whereas Sanders has (so far) had his best polling among the narrowest demographics, which makes the Iowa result quite commensurate as well.

The problem for Bernie is Iowa was his wheelhouse and still didn't win.

No it wasn't, New Hampshire is. He was always likely to win NH but not really for Iowa, but even with a clear "big win" there he would still need to impress the folks to view him as the winner to gain the normal boost candidates winning early get when the super Tuesday times roll around.

The media is lazy as the people are lazy. they want to view the election results as the winners who they can get behind to feel like they are winners.

Hilary's 4 delegate boost over Sanders is the "winner" because the point of these votes is perception, not results.
