RE: Billy Graham Dead
I actually don't know much about Billy Graham's sins.
He did vocally voice opposition to apartheid and refused to speak to segregated audiences.
He opposed nuclear weapons.
I'm not saying he didn't have sins I'm just ignorant of them.
MLK called him a friend. And he marched with him at the Selma march.
All in all I'd have to say I wish more of the zipperheads were like him.

Sorry but how many people did he lead into the slavery of religion and irrationality ? Thousands and thousands, so forgive me if I don't shed a tear.

RE: Billy Graham Dead
It's interesting that Billy Graham was ok with evolution but his preacher kids are not. It points to how much more wacko and radicalize evangelicals have become in the last 30 years. Billy Graham was one of those- "god created man by the evolutionary process"-preachers but his kids reject evolution as "evil". They're nut jobs. Graham was a nut too but just not as obnoxious.

Yup, he doesn't exist anymore.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

I thought he died years ago.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Oh give me a break!
People can make up their own minds.
He believed in what he preached.
And he refused to involve himself in Washington politics. He said his job was the preach the gospels.
Is that were we are now?
Fundementalist Atheism?
If people live a good life and don't hurt people and fight for civil rights I don't have to agree with them about their religious beliefs.
How about MLK?
He led a lot of people to religion. And he was friends with Billy Graham.
Is he a piece of shit as well?

RE: Billy Graham Dead
He was one of the few religious leaders left I had any respect for. He wasn't perfect as history has shown, but I think it will look at him with much kinder eyes and be more gentle to him than it will be to his children.

Wait didn’t billy graham go to the Whitehouse a fuck ton of times? He didn’t involve himself outwardly on politics but he certainly helped to drive an agenda behind the scenes. He was actually the “spiritual advisor” to quite a few presidents. You can’t really make the claim he wasn’t involved in politics.

My grandma dragged me once to hear him speak. I think that was when I began seriously questioning my belief in god. That being said, he did seem to be a nice man. I also think, unlike some of them (Pat Robertson, et al) he actually did believe what he said.

Yeah whatever, you have a different opinion to me and that's fine no need for anyone to give anyone "a break", nice try at baiting re MLK, but I'm not biting. You think Graham was cool, I disagree, doesn't make me an atheist fundamentalist and it doesn't make you a religious apologist its a difference of opinion that's all. BTW I never said he was a piece of shit I believe that is a straw man. Funny how you talk about him as a person who lead many to faith as being something that is positive I personally view that as a negative.
