He's a traitor. After trial, he should be taken to the White house rose garden and put before a firing squad on global television, while a CNN style banner scrolls beneath the coverage alerting the world that this is what we do to traitors. Angry

Why is this treason bad? LOL As if there's such a thing as good treason.

Let's get the official answer:

State Dept. warns WikiLeaks: Release threatens lives

The State Department legal adviser wrote the head of WikiLeaks on Saturday that his impending release of some 250,000 confidential U.S. diplomatic cables threatens the lives of human rights activists, journalists, and soldiers as well as on-going international operations against nuclear proliferation and terrorism.

"Despite your stated desire to protect those lives, you have done the opposite and endangered the lives of countless individuals," State Department legal advisor Harold Koh wrote WikiLeaks' Julian Assange, in a letter released Saturday by the State Department.

"You have undermined your stated objective by disseminating this material widely, without redaction, and without regard to the security and sanctity of the lives your actions endanger," Koh continued. (Source) It's an outrage that Manning could acquire access to the information he allegedly stole. Being released on the net, the enemies of this nation are able to access the information and use it against us and our operatives.

And if the Julian Assange didn't hate America exclusively and was truly bent on freedom of information, he'd publish stolen documents acquired from other nations files. But he doesn't. He's bent on destroying America and compromising our way of life, our national security and that of those in the field.
Assange's no hero. He's despicable.
And not only is it reprehensible that WikiLeaks has done this, but it inspires others to espionage as well.

Let's get the official answer:

So, the US government, who has been caught with its pants down and probably guilty of several crimes, gets to decide the "official" position.

He may have put lives in danger, but so far all I've seen to back that position up is a lot of noise.

Valkyrie wasn't an example of treason. It was an emergency continuity of government operations plan, as the Wiki link states at the outset. It was employed against what was believed to be treason by the State, under Hitler's regime.

He is a true hero. I completely support him and any whistle blowers who risk everything to expose the truth and promote transparency.

Taken to the rose garden and shot on global television? Are you serious? What are we living in an Orwellian nightmare?

I think I'll pass on watching public execution. I'm pretty sure I gave up religion because of it's propensity for doing things like that.
