There have been a number of cases were mothers have died due to our strict and unclear abortion laws. Now a young woman who is brain dead, is being kept on life support because she is 16 weeks pregnant. This is against wishes of her family who want to have the life support switched off. The government will not hold a referendum on the issue because they don't want to upset / lose the Catholic voters. Arrgggggghhhh!!!.... I need a drink!

How would you feel if the situation was closer to full term?

I doubt it would matter, honestly it should be up to the family.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Long term gets worrisome.
Early, with family consent, could be about as close as practical.

If it was a lot closer to full term the hospital could perform a caesarean section. But in this case, I feel the decision to stop life support should be left up to the family.

This isn't a government matter. Their responsibility is roads, schools, economy, public safety.
This is a private matter.

Yeah, I read the reports about what those lousy bastards did.

Atheism is NOT a Religion. It's A Personal Relationship With Reality!

Some may well see it as public safety!

They are mistaken.
