Brain VS Owner of said Brain
This is probably a bucket of stupid, but here goes:

If one continually insults their own brain, would the brain take offense?

Take that any way you wish.

Your brain would eventually perceive the insults as reality.

I insult my brain all the time. My brain never takes offense, and instead just calmly reminds me that I am my brain. And I feel sad because i insulted myself Sad

RE: Brain VS Owner of said Brain
Technically speaking, we ARE the brain. Meaning, everything that we are as people; our loves, our hates, our hopes, our dreams, our fears, our sadness, the things that make us laugh; it's all the direct result of chemical and electrical signals being passed between neurons. This means that our thoughts are actually physical reactions that take place within the physical brain. If these reactions cease, WE cease.

For this reason, it's inaccurate (though natural) to describe the brain as being seperate from the individual.

Through profound pain comes profound knowledge.

To further this point, look at the psychological conditions of anorexia or bulimia. Often times it has been found that the person has convinced themselves that they are overweight, even if they are of the healthy standard.

Your brain is not a singular "set". It's many waring armies, all competing for control, most of which you are not even aware of.
