Brexit meets reality.
Theresa May has now shown her cards, that she's intent on getting free trade and a result with the EU which is essentially the same as full membership but by a different name. She agreed with the EU that there would be regulatory compliance in Northern Irleand in order that there can be no border between the north and south, but this would mean that Ireland would effectively be under EU rules whereas the rest of the UK would be separate, and there would then have to be border controls between all of Ireland and the UK mainland. But, the Democratic Ulster Party, DUP, have risen up in opposition, and they are in May's coalition giving her a majority in Parliament, so they've trashed the deal.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/201...WEML6619I2 AND, Scotland, Wales and the City of London now want to have the same deal as Northern Ireland. Brexit is unravelling. It's a mess. Ain't that a shame! |

RE: Brexit meets reality.
Wow...
I can't say I understand all of that, but this seems like a royal fuck up and some real sneakiness. Is May trying to leave the EU but basically keep everything the same? What is she trying to do? I wish there was some way this whole nonsense could be scrapped and we just stay in the EU. I have a website here which discusses the issues and terminology surrounding religion and atheism. It's hopefully user friendly to all. |

Details details.
It's always in the details. What looks good on paper stinks once everyone gets done wiping their asses. Or "bums" in this case. ![]() |

RE: Brexit meets reality.
What a bunch of shit.
Somebody said a while ago, but this should not have been a choice given to the public. Most people I know voted for the wrong reasons ("It's about immigration") or because they had no idea about it in the first place, be it either information wise or because they thought the UK would be getting something in return like this supposed 390 million the NHS is getting....which it's not. I really don't know what the future holds for the UK. This whole vote/brexit has made me ashamed (or more so) ashamed to be British. |
