Religion is a construct that is supposed to explain the inexplicable. Fill in the gaps in our understanding in a way that makes us tow the line.

If it doesn't answer where souls/spirits come from, it fails.

This gap is especially obvious in reincarnation. You have a finite number of souls popping from one form to another, and no one knows why and how the number increases.

I got it, some of them develop tulpas which then split off. Tongue
