So, Dom, what would you say to cooking coffee in plastic bottles? And what does the WebMD say about that?

Dunno about the WebMD, but after seeing people die of cancer, I'm not taking any risks. Just not worth it.

And, you can find all kinds of research on the matter. Plastics are approved to use when there is no research evidence that they are universally harmful. They don't have to prove that they are harmless.

Given the torture one endures with cancer, I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially when there is a lot of evidence indicating that there is an issue.

There is really no avoiding leaching from plastics into food in today's society unless you grow and process your own. So, you get lots of the chemicals whether you heat your coffee in plastic or not.

I am also not as much concerned about each individual chemical as I am about the interactions of chemicals. There is simply no research and nothing is known about it.

Perhaps we shall evolve to thrive on these chemicals. After the intolerant die off... but I hope not to be one of those.

It's not about whether you die, it's about how and when you die. And more about the how than the when.

Not cool. Advising a possibly fatal course of action is contemptible.

I must agree, the fumes from ammonia and bleach can be far more dangerous than a bit of plastic smell. Don't give out dangerous advices, if they are not accommodated with at least a smile face. Smile

I know that.

But it looks so pretty! It combusts! I did it by accident once.

I did that with a gold-rimmed teacup once. Very exciting. Sparkly. Consider
