Cabin Fever...how do you cope?
As the title suggests, I am curious how you guys cope with cabin fever. I am an outdoors person. Maybe even more so than most. I spend the winters staring outside, waiting for it to warm up.

This year has been especially hard for me. Just like everywhere else, it's been an unseasonably cold and nasty winter so far. The cold has affected my arthritis to the point where even walking to the car turns my hands into rigid claws screaming with pain. And so I spend my time inside, pining for warm weather and sunshine.

It's only the beginning of February. The lack of inactivity is getting to me.

How am I to cope?

So many cats, so few good recipes.

Can't help you there, sorry.

I'm a recluse. Have been since I was five years old.

The outside world can just FUCK OFF!

If you can't handle the cold, I have a spare room over here on the equator.

Well, not 'spare' exactly, but the current occupants can just shove up a bit. No problem.

Pay some games. Or watch porn. That always keeps me excited and tired out.

RE: Cabin Fever...how do you cope?
I felt that way up until yesterday. When I realized hmmm i have a Dr. appointment in Cincinnati that I cannot miss. Crap I better leave now or I am going to get snowed in. Then I drove over 100 miles in a blizzard at 25 miles an hour in a 70mph limit zone. I was terrified I had to get out and break the ice off my wipers several times. I had to get out and help push stuck people out of the snow several times. People had to help push me out of the snow several times. This is my first Ohio winter since I was a kid so my first time driving in snow. I official hate: Ohio, winter, snow, ice, and cold. I really want to be in my warm house never coming out until spring. Weeping
Ok I am done venting now and I will say one last thing about my trip. I met so many strangers who seem to genuinely care about helping people out that made me super happy Big Grin

Swing with me a while, we can listen to the birds call, we can keep each other warm.
Swing with me forever, we can count up every flower, we can weather every storm.

Move to a warmer climate, that's what I did.

Check out my atheism blog. It's just a blog, no ads, no revenue, no gods.

Make no mistake. I want nothing to do with the outside world. I just wanna be outside. Alone. Surrounded by anything but snow.

It would help to know what your interests are ?

Maybe building models, such as airplanes, cars, tall ships, available in varying degrees of difficulty, or maybe build sound equipment, maybe take up learning a musical instrument.

Maybe writing a autobiography or a fiction story ? Going through childhood pictures to spark memories?

Besides moving to a warmer climate, thats about all I got.

RE: Cabin Fever...how do you cope?
I am an outdoor person too. I am retired and my wife and I live in Colorado. I normally hike, ride my horse, fish, go to my gun club, etc but when it is -6 F, as it is today, I stay inside. I have a number of indoor hobbies to pass the time. I read books, I tie flies for fishing, I build rifles, I hand load ammunition, and I bundle up and go drink coffee with a bunch of old trial lawyers who are not smart enough to retire. I also do winter sports, like skiing and tracking mountain lions in the Colorado snow, but I don't do that when it's this cold. When the temp gets above 20 F, I'll do those things.

Bundle up. Hand warmers and foot warmers work wonders. Shove them into your gloves 10 mins before you go out, and your hand will be totally warm. Wear lots of layers and compression clothing.

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day - Bill Watterson

Play online games. You'd be suprised how time-consuming and addictive they are

I don't really like going outside.
It's too damn "peopley" out there....
