RE: Can anyone explain how this wasn't God?
And since this is the most active thread I've posted in today, I'll take this opportunity to say that I'll be off line for a while. I'm going to Arizona for two weeks of hiking. Hiking is my favorite activity. My favorite place for it is southeastern British Columbia, but the hiking season there is short, so this month I'll hike in the Grand Canyon region and in the mountains around Flagstaff. With luck this thread will have petered out by the time I return home. For a week I'll have no internet or cell phone service, and in any case, for the entire time I'll have no time for discussion boards. Up early, breakfast, hike, then eat supper, and go to bed.

To TTA: I'm taking bets how long it takes until Shinosky "realizes" he's what his god has sent to us. (Oh, wait...)

No, I don't depend on your god. Not first, not second, not to the nth degree. The reason is the same reason you don't depend on Hotei, Odin, Marduk, Enki, Dazhbog, or the endless stream of other gods throughout the history of humanity.

Who do you depend on?

My step-father used to say "You can pray in one hand and shit in the other and see which you get more of."

On a different topic, I find it sad that so many theists simply do not understand the difference between knowledge and belief. Knowledge must be founded on evidence and built through reason. Belief is when you have no evidence, or your reasoning is faulty. In your post above, you say that you "know" that God has something awesome to reveal to us. The correct word is believe. You believe God has something awesome to reveal. Your use of the wrong word shows that you fail to grasp the concept. This undermines your own credibility.

I'm sorry. You truly are not a deep thinker.

You do not understand and appreciate the message that is The Word brother. You do not embody and make The Word manifest. I do. I am that I am. I am that I am I am. I am.

Bob Marley cried at the alter for hours.

Yeah?

And so have many jilted men who were stood-up by their supposed-to-be wives.
And you know who else was jilted?

Hitler.

Are you saying Bob Marley is like Hitler?

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

That wasn't the question.

Is it rational to believe that your god can make 2+2 = anything other then 4, if it wants?

Do you believe your god can do that?

Lol. I am a professional golfer.

By "professional" golfer I meant someone who actually makes money at it and doesn't have to start gofundme pages to raise money for entrance fees and equipment. That said, you do appear to be quite a good golfer.
