Lose your job and end up homeless on the street. Bastards won't even give you a shit, shower and shave let alone a meal and a bed. ... wait ... that might be the Evangelicals. ... maybe both. Consider

Once you have been baptized you are considered part of the visible church. That's why we only ever baptize once. All you guys would just be fallen away Catholics.

According to the Wholly Sacramental Boiling, you are a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I see that your name is on our list.

Send the pope a certified letter than says "I quit" in Latin.

Or, was it "Fuck Off?"

I looked into getting officially dropped or excommunicated. It seems that they no longer actually do that. Unfortunately, the Vatican will forever think of me as one of theirs.

I may keep looking into it. Or just say fuck it, considering that once we die, the Mormons baptize us. I wonder if the two holy waters will even mix.

Not particularly relevant but the article mentioned the Blair Witch project and that reminded me that the place where I'm staying in BC was the farm where they filmed the exorcism of Emily Rose.

Can you officially leave the catholic church?.
My brother did more research on it before I did. It seems that they don't actually excommunicate people. I thought about writing to the local bishop. My brother said others have tried, but they don't do it. So technically I'll be counted amongst the Catholic fold forever.

You can't even leave the fold by apostasy or so church claims - „Semel catholicus, semper catholicus”. Though I would say it's just as valid as me baptising you now in the name of Cthulhu and saying that your soul belong to him for eternity Wink

Went through all the magic ceremonies, like the splashing magic water onto you to wash away something that had nothing to do with me. To the pretending to commit an act of cannibalism one where you eat 'bread' that looks and tastes suspiciously like cardboard, thats meant to be the body of an ancient zombie.
To the making shit up and then asking for forgiveness one and confirmation, (which was the more pointless one from what I could tell). And even went to 2 catholic schools, despite being what I now know was an atheist for most of that time.

Anyway I was browsing the internets. After wading through a sea of cat pictures and over used memes. I came across several cases of people being officially removed from the catholic church's records as a member. Some got a certificate and some got a letter.

Apparently the church keeps a record of their members even if they no longer attend mass, and use it for various things statistics etc.

Before, I thought stuff where you undid your former religion, like de baptism ceremonies were pointless. But knowing that an organisation I find vile can still use me as a statistic for their own gains kinda pisses me off.

Does anyone know how you can officially get yourself removed from the church's records? The info i've found so far hasn't been very helpful.

I like the idea of a letter or certificate or something to confirm it so I can frame it and stick it on my wall. Big Grin

There is still a way to escape the RC cult. You have to get yourself excommunicated. Here's a link on how a guy in Ireland did it. I hope it helps. Excommunication Anything I can do to piss off those Censored the better.

I'm not an idiot, I just do a very good impersonation of one. Hobo

I left a long time ago. I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I'm no longer Catholic, but I understand your desire to have them remove your name.

I find it more satisfying that I'm fucking up their statistics.
