I am a 20 year old atheist, satanist, autistic, college graduate.

I was born in 1995 as anyone who knows basic arithmetic can figure out, the same year Marilyn Manson released the remix album "Smells Like Children" which included the "Sweet Dreams" cover.

I went to a catholic elementary and secondary (high school). Up until grade 6 I thought that Catholicism was a good story that people followed for moral reasons and the good teachings, but then around grade 6 I learnt that people actually believed that nonsense and I remember saying to my EA (educational assistant) "There is no God", and then having her say back to me "I'm sorry for what must've happened to you, for you to feel that God is not there for you". I don't remember what I said in response to that though.

I asked my parents to send me to a public high school but all the public schools rejected me because apparently they didn't have the "Resources" to deal with an autistic student with serious issues still and still going through therapy and such. So it was another four years of Catholic indoctrination. And yes, I took the short bus to school... Dodgy

I was the high school's "Satan", always calling the religion nonsense, questioning religion teachers, speaking against church doctrine - like their position on abortion and such, and asking really tough questions.

In 2009, I started listening to Marilyn Manson and that led me to read the satanic bible, and I found out I am not just an atheist but also a Satanist. In the last year of high school, during my lunch break, I went and mailed off a membership application to the Church of Satan. I am now a card carrying church of satan member. And have seen Marilyn Manson in concert three times, met him once. I'm not a satanist because of him though, I was just exposed to it through a documentary on him.

Luckily, I went to a public partially provincially funded (I'm from Ontario, Canada)

college so no religion there.

I now live alone in a basement apartment an hour from my parents, though on disability benefits at the moment.

So, Hi, fellow non-believers, heretics, and heathens!

Welcome, and tell Satan that the Son of the Flying Spaghetti Monster sends him my regards.

So, Hi, fellow non-believers, heretics, and heathens!

I am a bit confused by your beliefs, how can you be an atheist and a satanist in the same time? Not believing in god should equal not believing in satan as well , they are two sides of the same coin.

Please watch this:

Welcome to the official website of the Church of Satan.

Founded on April 30, 1966 c.e. by Anton Szandor LaVey, we are the first above-ground organization in history openly dedicated to the acceptance of Man’s true nature—that of a carnal beast, living in a cosmos that is indifferent to our existence. To us, Satan is the symbol that best suits the nature of we who are carnal by birth—people who feel no battles raging between our thoughts and feelings, we who do not embrace the concept of a soul imprisoned in a body. He represents pride, liberty, and individualism—qualities often defined as Evil by those who worship external deities, who feel there is a war between their minds and emotions.

As Anton LaVey explained in his classic work The Satanic Bible, Man—using his brain—invented all the Gods, doing so because many of our species cannot accept or control their personal egos, feeling compelled to conjure up one or a multiplicity of characters who can act without hindrance or guilt upon whims and desires. All Gods are thus externalized forms, magnified projections of the true nature of their creators, personifying aspects of the universe or personal temperaments which many of their followers find to be troubling. Worshipping any God is thus worshipping by proxy those who invented that God. Since the Satanist understands that all Gods are fiction, instead of bending a knee in worship to—or seeking friendship or unity with—such mythical entities, he places himself at the center of his own subjective universe as his own highest value.

We Satanists are thus our own “Gods,” and as beneficent “deities” we can offer love to those who deserve it and deliver our wrath (within reasonable limits) upon those who seek to cause us—or that which we cherish—harm. Magus Gilmore’s essay “What, The Devil?” from The Satanic Scriptures discusses this in greater detail.

"It says you have to be saved in order to go to heaven. The way I see it, you only have to be yourself to go to hell!" - Marilyn Manson, Copps Collesium, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. (1997)

Hi Twigs - loved you in the 60s! I was 8. Shy

Sounds like you got a fun hobby there ...though, I personally don't find dogma or ritual kinds of stuff at all appealing. I do have an appreciation for symbolism and imagery that surrounds cultish behaviors like Satanism and such. It can be quite interesting.

Welcome. I'll have to look up the church of satan. I'm not sure if it's a philosophical parody type of thing like fsm or if they actually believe in the supernatural. Another thing to learn! Anyway, welcome!! There's some great people here.

I think they're naturalists doing satire by mimicking and perverting Christian rituals. I find them quite funny. And the activist ones have lawyers with sharp teeth.
