Carole King honored at the Kennedy Center
I don't know how I missed this.

She wrote so much of the soundtrack of my youth. She wrote so many songs she did not perform.
400 songs performed by over 1000 artists over the decades.
Tapestry was another album that was worn down on our little RCA folding tin stereo.

I could not think of a more deserving honoree Smile

RE: Carole King honored at the Kennedy Center
My roommate my freshman year in college was a major Carole King fan. She wrote King a letter every day for about three years when she was in high school.

I seldom listen to Carole King's music anymore (there is just so much else to listen to), but she was a big favorite of mine back in my high school days (early '70s). Yes, she wrote a bunch of great songs, both for others (mostly in the '60s) and for herself (mostly in the '70s).

I have Tapestry on my iPod, it's one of the first albums I downloaded in total. The whole album was just great.

I have it on vinyl, but I'll admit it's worn out.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I just saw this on TV, OMG Aretha Franklin just took it home singing 'Natural Woman'. It was electrifying.

$20.00 on it was Kenny Aronoff on the drums behind her.
