Check out the progress of my planted aquarium.
I've been working on this one a few months now. Started off not knowing much at all but I've learned a ton over the last few weeks. Especially the last few days. Today I changed things around, added a couple new plants, and scrubbed the black brush algae from the glass. I think it's looking pretty good.

Before I started.

Went to Petco today for some black background and solution. Wound up getting a couple of plants.

Had a couple rocks like this. I used them as a little retaining wall to keep the substrate piled up against the back corner of the tank. Worked well.

Looks so much better than before.

DIY CO2

The diffuser is right under one of my 2 HOBs on this tank so the water pouring in forces the CO2 that doesn't dissolve on the way up back down into the tank.

In a week or so I'll be ordering dwarf baby tears. It's the moss like plant you see covering the bottom of this tank. Basically all the plants that are in this pic I'll have in my tank as well. I also plan on adding a few red plants.

It's an underwater garden!

Do you really have to put fish in there? Laughat

The Baby Tears will take abit to catch, but so far I like your planning. My tank is sitting underneath a table... Plans for getting a pet rat still haven't turned out.

RE: Check out the progress of my planted aquarium.
I'm terrible with houseplants. I can take care of plants outside, but if a plant comes into my house it will die unless it is very hardy like peace lilies, probably due to over/under-watering and too much/too little sunlight.

I should try making an aquarium just for the plants. My pond does well, so maybe aquariums will be my thing. If my under-water terrarium doesn't die on me I can add fish for interest.

If something can be destroyed by the truth, it might be worth destroying.

Looks awesome, dude. My dad still hasn't gotten an aquarium yet, but I'm definitely getting you to come over to get it set up when he does.

You're giving me some ideas. I want to set my 30-gal rig back up once I've redone my library. Do I see your substrate as gravel? I ran a Walstad tank at my previous abode, and although it took a few months to get going, it worked out very well.

Could you give me an idea of the growth rate of the baby tears? That looks like something I'd want to plant.
