Children and Prayer
I've got two sweet little cousins staying with me for the moment. Lily 9, Jazz-Marie 5. Because I'm still adjusting to my blindness I'm living with my mom and we are looking after the girls until their mother gets back on her feet. We ran into a snag in parenting styles. Lily and Jazzy question everything. I believe in answering questions, including "Do we have to say grace, Laney?" I told them if they felt like it they could but they most certainly did have to do so. My mother has other ideas including punishing them for saying their prayers. (Sigh) I think our drastically different takes on caring for the girls is going to confuse them and I know better than to broach the topic with mum. Any advice?

Errr... I don't have kids, but I am one (or recently was one).

Just let them say the damn prayers, don't let your mom command you at this point.

Adorable!
So I am confused. Your mother wants to punish them for saying prayers?

Swing with me a while, we can listen to the birds call, we can keep each other warm.
Swing with me forever, we can count up every flower, we can weather every storm.

Oh ok. What would their mother have them do? If they are going to be going back with her, then I think doing whatever their mother would have them do is probably the least confusing.

She is beautiful!

I'm not anti-social. I'm pro-solitude. Sleepy
