Chip enabled credit cards
Finally!!! The US is a freaking dinosaur, Europe has had these for ever already. But I got a chip enabled credit card from Capitalone today. Now if only the store scanners would switch, we would not have to worry about identity theft as much. There is hope after all!

Does the word payWave mean anything to you?
Because we're actually beyond chips now.

Hell, you can even just use the app on your phone for payWave, not card needed.

I also just received my first chip enabled card, no store scanners and no pin yet to use with it.

never heard of paywave.

We are slowly moving towards payments at stores with mobile phones but most everyone I know doesnt use them because we have don't have "faith" in security.

Hell, here in the great US of A, we still get paper coupons in the mailbox out front! Some parts of the country seem so out of step with the world in general. I've often observed that the Midwest is about a decade behind the rest of the country, while the rest of the country is about 2 to 5 years behind the rest of the world. When I mention this observation to my local countrymen, they often ask where I was born. Dodgy

At times, I imagine living in the middle part of the US to be a bit like living in the Australian Outback, only without kangas and koalas. Drinking Beverage

Wow. I haven't seen a card without a chip in years.

So many cats, so few good recipes.

No problem with identity theft when you only use cash.

I think you can do that at Exxon gas stations, maybe others? There is a designated spot on the pump to wave your gas card, or is it a key fob linked to a credit card? Consider I'm not certain, I don't use it.

we still use the magnetic swipe for most every store, gas pump transaction. At stores the cashier sometimes asks for the 3 digit code on the back of the card, at gas pumps it will ask you to key in your billing zip code.

Paying with a mobile phone hasnt caught on. I think it might be because so many people lose their phone and see it as risky because we don't know much about it.
