Arabia and the Levant[edit]
In Arabic the Pleiades are known as al-Thurayya الثريا, and mentioned in Islamic literature. Muhammad is noted to have counted twelve stars in the constellation as reported in Ibn Ishaq (this was in the time before telescopes when most could only see six). The name was borrowed into Persian and Turkish as a female given name, and is in use throughout the Middle East (for example Princess Soraya of Iran and Thoraya Obaid). It is also the name of the Thuraya satellite phone system based in the United Arab Emirates.

All of these sites mention that only six are visible with the naked eye.

Merry Christmas to all and remember Jesus is the reason for the season.

Are you even reading the pages you are linking? The very first page you linked doesnt even have the word "six" a single time. Not.a.single.time.
It states however:
Quote:When asked how many stars they see in the cluster, beginning observers will usually say five. That's what most of us see at a glance, ...
Let's start with the next two easier targets. Extend a line from Alcyone through Maia to find Taygeta. Most amateur astronomers can spot this one with ease.
That was 5+1 so far Smartass
Quote:It's the next one, Pleione, that gives many observers trouble. Not only is it dimmer, but the star nestles against brighter Atlas. For me, seeing it requires good dark adaption, patience, and a mix of averted and direct vision.
So, number seven can be seen too, you need to train your eyes, you need to know what to do, but thats exactly what could have been done 2ky ago. Thumbsup

One of the pics is commented as follows:
Quote:The brighter of the Pleiades stars with names are shown along with their magnitudes. After spotting the five easy ones, try Taygeta and then Pleione to make seven.

Thank you for the effort and confirming my point and refuting yourself. Blink Facepalm

So i wont bother reading your other links when you cant be bother to be honest about the first one you linked.

Okok, you beat me to it. I read the second link too. Guess what i found in there:
Quote:Most people can only see six stars with the naked eye, or even just a hazy clump if light pollution interferes. With a clear night and keen, dark-adjusted eyes, you may see more than seven.

And btw. what the shit with the arabs? Your original claim was that the bible knew it was seven, yet we can see only six. Now you are presenting a wiki article that disproves your own claim by claiming that Muhammad could count 12? Blink

You hereby clearly have demonstrated that you either absolutely dont know what you are talking about and/or are lazy as shit or are so dishonest and offensive to provide links that demonstrate you to be wrong while claiming they would confirm your BS. Did you really think nobody would read/understand what you linked? Did you assume so, because you dont read/ try to understand stuff linked to you as well?

You clearly arent looking for a honest conversation, you arent looking to learn what is true, you just are trying to defend your religious BS, no matter what.

Merry Xmas.

Originally the X was not an X as we use it in the English alphabet; it was the Greek letter chi which looks very similar to an X. The Greek letter X (chi) is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ, Xristos (χριστός) so Xmas therefore means "Christ's Mass" which is what the word Christmas actually means.

Okay!

The Superb Fairy Wren is known to be among the most adulterous animals on earth.
The females also teach their embryos feeding calls specific to themselves by singing at the eggs.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

The Super Mario Bros 2 released on the NES in the United States and Europe is not the real sequel to the original Super Mario Bros.

The actual follow up was developed for Nintendo's disk system add-on that they released only in Japan, known as the Famicom Disk System.

Famicom was the name of given to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in Japan, and was a portmanteau of Family Computer. So the legit sequel was released only in Japan, and on proprietary floppy disks.

The game that westerners know as Super Mario Bros 2 is actually a modified version of another Japanese games, called Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic (translated as "Dream Factory: Heart-Pounding Panic"). It was developed by Nintendo to be a tie-in and promote an event called Yume Kojō '87 (Dream Factory '87). So while the game was not a Mario title per se, it's development however was supervised by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, with music composed by the same gentleman who had scored Super Mario Bros, Koji Kondo.

Why was this done? Because the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2 looked too similar to the first game, was currently only disk and not cartridge (the Disk System was never released outside of Japan), and the game was a huge step up in difficulty. Given that the American video game market was only just recovering from the crash of 1983, the President of Nintendo of America didn't want to release a title that could potentially alienate their fledgling market.

However, the Japanese version was eventually released in western markets, on the follow up Super Nintendo home console. Included as one of the playable titles packaged within the Super Mario All Stars cartridge, which contained all of the Super Mario games released on the previous console. Included in that list was a curios title, called Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, this game is the missing Japanese Super Mario Bros 2 from the Famicom Disk System.

[Image: Super_Mario_All_Stars_SNES_Jaquette.jpg]

But many parts of Doki Doki Panic have now become part of the Mario cannon, including the introduction of the Bomb-ombs, Shy-Guys, and Birdo.

So yeah, if you were ever curious as to what exactly were the Lost Levels, now you know. Or you can watch this for a more in-depth explanation, as I only presented the Cliff-Notes version.

If you measure by fatalities caused, the most dangerous animals in Australia are horses (along with ponies and donkeys), cows (including bulls), and dogs.
