"Christian Nation"
Christian Nation by Frederick C. Rich is an alternate history novel which explores the possibilities of what might have happened had John McCain won the 2008 presidential race, died in 2009 and left Sarah Palin as president. It's a book that every believer in religious freedom should read. While the events depicted are admittedly very unlikely there's plenty of food for thought here. What would happen if the Dominionists get their way? Unbelievers would be put to death. Homosexuals would be stoned.

What's scary is that many of the individuals and institutions named actually exist and are on record as having such an agenda. Individuals like R.J. Rushdoony, Michelle Bachman and Tony Perkins (not the actor in Hitchcock's Psycho) and Patrick Henry College, a fundamentalist college which, according to the book, accounts for 7% of congressional and white house interns.

The author points out that almost all revolutions are begun (and often won) by minorities. That includes the American Revolution.

A must read.

So...it's a horror story, then?

Yeah, pretty much. But like Jaws there's nothing supernatural in it. Sharks are real. Dominionists are real.
