Christian solicitations via the mail
Wondering if anyone has ever received the traditional Jehovah's Witness sort of solicitations - you know, with The Watchtower and the speech and all - through the mail instead of at your door?

I live in a community that makes it difficult for anyone to go door-to-door, and today I got a piece of mail addressed to me (or current resident) with a return address from a near-by city (their first name and PO Box only). It was a religious tract about the Truth No an invitation to a Bible Study Laugh out load and a rather creepy, handwritten letter.

I get stuff periodically from new churches in the area, but they are never personal, never in envelopes, and they are mass mailings. This just felt very invasive.

Anybody ever get anything like this?

WR

We used to get stuff hung on the door...the 'No Soliciting' sign seems to have stopped that. As the graduate of a Catholic high school, I get tons of pleas for money so that others can have the same dandy kind of education I had. Dodgy

Not in the mail for a long time. Door, yes. I remember the last one I got was about how it's fine people are atheist, they just need to be quiet about it. Smile

Me me me!

Them and the Mormons have sent us invites and events to their respective cults.

I can't believe someone wasted money on a stamp.

Oh well, then...I don't feel so, um...singled out. I was going to say that now I don't feel so special, but...LOL.

How do they get peoples addresses to mail stuff Huh Consider kind of freaky when you think about it. I don't want no religious people knowing where I live, they may come into my bedroom at night and sacrifice me to their Lord. Unsure

You might want to investigate the writing style a bit more closely. It might be machine generated.

I came across this a while back:

There are mass mailing lists you can buy that contains names and addresses.

Sales people get them all the time.
