You say "church rubs me the wrong way."

Atheism is NOT a Religion. It's A Personal Relationship With Reality!

LOL... minimalist by name; minimalist by response.

I'm a creationist... I believe that man created God.

I would just say you have other plans . If she persists, you should tell her you are not interested in going to church.
I have a friend who invited us to her church a couple times and I had to tell her that we are not religious. She was fine with this answer and we are still good friends Smile

Presuming she knows you're an atheist, I'm not even sure of why she suddenly asked you to an Easter church service. It could even be the beginnings of a not-so-subtle form of proselytising on her part?

RE: Church invite for Easter
She doesn't know. I guess what irritates me the most is that she, another friend and I used to do activities ALL THE TIME that don't involve church. I see on FB she still goes out like we all used to do, except me and the other friend (who is gay) aren't invited. I feel like she's on a 'saving souls' mission and I want so badly for her to wake up and do her research on what she blindly believes. I do feel like it's passive aggressive proselytizing. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you so much! I'll just have to tell her I'm not religious like she is. She's VERY sensitive and I've avoided having the conversation with her because I don't want her to feel like the 'persecuted Christian', offend her, or hurt her feelings

Christians *are* very sensitive. They're programmed to be. Any disagreement is persecution. Good luck, but my guess is she's gonna take the opportunity to be offended.
