RE: Clams on Seeing God.
I saw the devil when I was a kid. Late at night when I was in bed, right in front of me.

In hindsight it was a shadow of the tree out front - there was a street lamp behind it.

You can interpret a lot of things to be supernatural if you are of that mind set. A lot of kids swear there are monsters under the bed...kids have tons of imagination.

You know, it just occurred to me that if clams can see god, there would be no way for us to know about it. I think there's a potential religion there. The Clams-Can-See-God religion.

RE: Clams on Seeing God.
I've never personally met people who claimed to see God, but I've heard people speak of "personal experiences" that let them know that such a deity exists. My mother once fell asleep driving home and was woken at the last second to swerve away from oncoming traffic. She claims to have heard the voice of her dead aunt. Such claims are self-defeating when viewed from a global context, however. Christianity is certainly not the only religion to have sightings of gods. Take the Hindu concept of Darshan, for example.

The "One True God" can't exist if other religions see physical manifestations of their deities. I imagine, however, when faced with such a realization, some Christians would say the people are either "mistaken" or being "fooled by the Devil" (or some such nonsense). Much backpedaling would surely ensue if they were pressed to prove such a position.

...and then there's - the LC - written by an obviously flaming nutbag. There's also Mark Druher's account - he of the excessive thigh and the live-in "Halle Berry" god, and Lord Steven Jesus Christ, proponent of the glass sky. And that's just here. Laugh out load

And communion is a bowl of clam chowder. Yummmmm.

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
