Climate Change and the impending Ecological Catastrophe
I know people who extensively study this topic of climate change, and have also done so extensively myself (actually looked at the acts-not watched propaganda on youtube)... and I hate to break it to you but we are in the middle of the 6th (or 7th if you include the Theia event 4.5 billion years ago) mass extinction- the Holocene extinction, which began around 12,000 years ago and the driving force behind this extinction is commerce-a truly random system.

In an attempt to find a truly random system scientists have looked at the falling of raindrops the explosion of supernovae among other 'systems' found in nature and have failed to find something truly 'random'. Commerce, however has finally been discovered to be this elusive random system. Commerce has produced a world where 10% of the human population has 90% of the wealth and 1% has 40% of the wealth, meanwhile 7.5 million children starve to death each year while the rich gorge themselves and rob the poor blind with their fictional monetary debt based system. What we are witnessing is Nature, which is much more ancient, self-correcting by attempting to return to a state of order. The universe is ushering us into extinction. If we do not self-correct and destroy commerce, the entire planet will likely be a sterile lifeless ball within 300 years.

We are living in the Holocene extinction right NOW, as defined by every pertinent field of science. 30,000 (reports say this is the average) species are going extinct every year. The more likely scenario is that, since most life is interdependent, (without algae and plankton the oxygen content of earth would drop to about 5%, for instance), the extinction rate will increase exponentially as time progresses and key species fall from the food chain. The extinction of bees, which is NOT being addressed properly is having a major effect on plant species NOT made by monsanto (whom produces sterile plants for crops, and most of all, DNA altered microorganisms within each seed that act as insecticides, that are killing the bees).

I will reiterate, the planet is not dying. Nature which is big and old as the cosmos, is stomping on us like a bug. Nature does not care or feel, it only demands order out of chaos. The order of the cosmos will bring order to this chaos by freeze drying the planet into zero entropy. At this time it impossible to predict how cold the planet will get or how much ice the planet will be buried under.

When snowball earth comes, it is not going to be like a prolonged winter. The moon is too far away to do what it did hundreds of millions of years ago, namely, force ice tides and crush ice back into liquid water again. That is, when the earth freezes over like Europa this time, it is staying frozen until our star explodes.

The wealthiest 1% of men on this planet are bringing about a global mass extinction event...

I posted this in the conspiracy section as irony....an ode those who actually believe climate change is a hoax...oh how they, or their grandchildren, will wail in abject horror when it becomes too obvious to ignore how much damage has been done, and the collapse of earths ecosystems take on a life of their own-like a runaway freight train. The question is-are we already there?

RE: Climate Change and the impending Ecological Catastrophe
My understanding of this "extinction" is that it's caused by humans, and includes the mass extinction of other species via hunting/human by products that ultimately cause death of other animals [Global warming being the main one I think].

Not sure what the last part you have going on there implies, but generally yes humans have fucked up this planet, and this Holocene Extinction is the by product of that. The earth freezing over I don't think has anything to do with this at all, and sounds like proper "day after tomorrow/the magnetic poles are going to reverse" bollocks.

I don't want Fop, goddamn it! I'm a Dapper Dan man!

Do you want me to explain exactly HOW this will be the inevitable outcome of human activities? It has nothing to do with hollywood movies or unfounded speculation

We are in a mass extinction that we can link to human activities, but most of the data at present indicates that the most adversely affected taxa tend to be large charismatic marcofauna: https://labs.eemb.ucsb.edu/mccauley/doug...l_2016.pdf

Unwarranted alarmism and just-making-things-up does not help climate scientists make their case. Just the reverse. Please stick to the science, which includes real uncertainties and different scenarios depending on how humanity reacts to what happens.
