Clowns
Well, not clowns. Consider

In May of this year, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus will close after 146 years.

It's sad in many ways, but zoos and circuses seem to be out of step with the times.

RE: Clowns
My family went to see the Ringling Bros circus a few years ago, while visiting San Francisco.

They said it was actually a lot of fun, I was supposed to go but I wasn't feeling well and sipping 7up and watching tv alone in the hotel room.

There is one circus called Circus Vargas that still tours around California that doesn't use any animals. Still very popular too. They stopped using animals I want to say in the 1990s and found quickly they entertain just as well without them.

And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I saw Ringling Bros. in Chicago when I was a kid, it was okay.
I also remember seeing Circus Vargas commercials when they were coming to town.
Like Chas mentioned, the captive animals aren't a big selling point for them anymore. I've seen a lot of people online expressing their opinions that it's about time they closed up.

I agree it's kinda sad. The circus was always a trip to get to see. It's another world, and not just rhetorically, for the people in the circus, it was another world. That was part of the charm and odyssey of the whole experience.

But yeah, it is what it is. The times, they are always a changin'.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

The Circus seems cruel and confined.
The Wild Animal Park/Safari Park out here are doing well.
My brother makes me take him out to feed his giraffe friends.

Indianapolis has a nice zoo.
We took the kids there when they were young and got to feed the Giraffes and ride the Elephants.

RE: Clowns
I fed a giraffe at Marine World Africa USA located just a few miles from my house, in Belmont California. I had a choice between riding an elephant or feeding a giraffe, I totally chose the giraffe. Heart

It licked my the side of my face and hair...the handler warned me to keep calm, that giraffes would be curious about blonde hair. Yes

Their tongues were soooo long I remember I was freaked out.

I LOVE GIRAFFES!!! Heart

I watched that twice.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

They're totally cool, they have those weird antler things on their head too. Laugh out load

I remember that they have incredibly tough and taunt skin, a necessary adaptation for the physics and pressure required to keep the blood pumping up to their brains without bursting through the skin in their legs.
