Coach fired for attending wrong church
Even as an atheist, I find this to be ridiculous and WAY over the line.
I wouldn't want to be fired for my non-belief and unless this guy was a member of Westboro Baptist Church, no way he should be fire.

I do draw the line with the Westboro Baptist church.
Those people are fricken insane.

I have to say three things.

Yes, this is a ridiculous reason to fire a successful coach.

It seems to me that "christian" high schools seem to be trying to outdo "catholic" high schools in corrupting high school sports.

Doesn't this belong in the sports section.

Their school, their rules.

Let's see, if you start with a bunch of delusional people, why would you expect rational results?

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Ha! Well there you go, brother in Christ... We don't want your kind around here.

Maybe Highland needs a football coach. I'd like to have a look at the contract. I have a hunch that the contract refers to obeying the bylaws of the school/church, and the bylaws include the residency (for lack of a better term) require for church attendance.

Maybe this is the last straw before the coach waked up to the sham of religion. Someone get to him quickly to start the deconversion.

"Hey we noticed that you're not giving 10% to our church, but instead that money is going someplace else.
We don't feel comfortable with where you are spending OUR money (the money we give you)
We feel we should have some say in how you spend it and where you spend it at.
From now on, you will do as we say or you can find some other place to work."

At the core of religion is CONTROL.
Control over the choices you "freely" make and control over your money.

Apparently they believe their school can't win at football without God. So they require everyone involved to attend their church and pray diligently. Worshiping another god would likely result in heavy game losses so they can't have this coach somewhere else worshiping Jesus instead of... oh wait...

Apparently they believe their school can't win at football without worshiping Jesus in the proper building. Yeah, that must be it...
