Well there we are then.
Church ladies (and other self-righteous people who can do a good "indignation") are indispensable when ya want yer own beligion.

As for decent life I don't think that begging for forgiveness every time you jerk off is a decent life. Also lying is not that bad.

I think you missed the bit about if you ignore all the shitty parts.

And if shitty parts are 70% of religion and other 30% you could come up with on your own what do you need religion for Tongue

Good idea.

Now let's see... what would be the selection criteria for a good Pewp?

Ability to spontaneously pontificate (rant)?
A penchant for boys?
Full of Pewpal Bull?

There can be only one candidate ...

RE: Combinated religions
I worked with a guy a few years ago who claimed to be both Catholic and Buddhist. His two big heroes were the Pope and the Dalai Lama. And then there was the guy in The Life of Pi who was Hindu, Catholic, and Muslim. But that's fiction.

I actually have some sympathy for the "all religions are true" claim, although not in its exact literal sense (yes, they contradict each other, and often themselves as well). I would put it like this: if there is any truth in religion at all, I am 99.9% certain that it doesn't reside in its entirety in any one specific religion -- that all of them possess pieces of the truth (sort of like the blind men and the elephant).

Not to be argumentative, but there are plenty of things Christians do that Christ would have disagreed with. "The philosophy itself" means very little when philosophies only exist in the human mind.

If the No True Scotsman argument isn't acceptable for Christianity, it is not acceptable for other religions and ideologies either.

How much do you know about Buddhism?

Whatever you want to ask, just get to the point. Lots of people here seem interested in response tag.
