RE: Coming out on another forum
I never lived in Emporia, or Ohio. I never got THAT deeply into it.

The Way had several programs for the super-committed. The most basic one was WOW (Word Over the World), which was basically a one-year missionary trip to an American city or town.

There was The Way College (in Emporia) which offered an unaccredited associate's degree, and The Way Corps, which was a four-year program. I do not recall whether one got a bachelor's degree after The Way Corps, but if one did, it was also unaccredited.

I never did any of that.

Are you ex-Way, too?

Incidentally, so far the response on the other forum has been muted. I got one reply, and it was not critical (or supportive). It was more along the lines of -- so that's what you believe. No judgment either way.

Only two replies so far, plus one personal conversation with someone I knew since childhood. Nothing judgmental. This is going okay.

Glad things so far are going well. Big Grin

Glad I've never had to worry about coming out. Advantage of never really being in.

Don't surprise me none. My friends ain't my friends because of similar metaphysics. Sounds like an interesting forum. Give us a link.

Ha - no. I'm atheist born and raised.

I came to Emporia State University an accredited state university. I have aBFA in painting and I was asked if I wanted to take an instructing job at the Way. I had looked into it and found it just too creepy... what with the illegal arsenal and all. Dodgy

Although, I did buy and still live in a house about 2 blocks from the former Way campus. The campus was sold off bit by bit and eventually, I worked in the building which was the student union, at one time. It remains a telephone company I used to work for.

I don't know why I still live here. It's truly a strange town.
