Star Compare and contrast - cities before and after being built?
Does anyone have a link, or able to provide pictures of what the lands looked liked before certain iconic cities were built?

Thick forests, barren deserts, deep marshes, or dark jungles being contrasted with how it looks today.

If you check old satellite photos you can watch Bangladeshi slaves guest workers build Dubai out of the desert.

Hmm...

It's not an iconic city by any stretch of the imagination, but there's always my hometown:

Not exactly the same spot, and not entirely pre-human-occupation, but it's as close as you're gonna get.

... this is my signature!

In this pdf there's a picture of where Brasilia was built http://ifc.dpz.es/recursos/publicaciones...nandez.pdf

It's a crossroads surrounded by the jungle... Now it's something like this:

I don't know if you'd consider Shanghai to be iconic, but here's a sweet gif from the Huffington Post:

It may not be the natural, unaltered beginning landscape that you asked for, but it shows some amazing change in a mere 26 years.
