RE: Concerts
Kids are twisting my arm to take them to see Mayday Parade in May, HoB, New Orleans. I wish it would not be a Sunday.

Side note, I have my second concert with the community band Saturday. My second daughter will be in the band also. My oldest will be joining next week. She does not want to show up the rehersal before the concert to get started.

It was general seating on the floor and turned into a mosh pit. I was getting thrown around and some guy rescued me. Totally freaked me out, we left the floor bumped into friends, went to the very tip top last row of 3 Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh to smoke a bowl, and made it back to the very front on the floor for Van Halen and was on some other guys shoulders the whole time…complete stranger. I was right in front of Eddie for that show, he was amazing to watch play. It was like he did it without any effort whatsoever.

good times… Big Grin
Awesome. I saw that same show in Seattle at the King Dome. (Dokken was the other band.) Scorpions didn't do an encore because someone threw a camera at Klaus and it pissed him off.
I have also seen:
Rush
David Lee Roth (solo)
Def Leppard
Sammy Hagar
Queensrÿche
Van Halen a few times. Once from front row center!! One year, Alice In Chains opened for them. Since it was the last gig that they were opening, VH fucked with them. During their set they were battling masking tape stuck all over the stage floor, had to escort off a couple hookers, and finished the set while having the drum kit completely dismantled. Later, during VH's set, they started playing "Man In The Box." After a minute or so, AIC joined them on stage, looked indignant, and then they all jammed Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll." 'Twas kinda cool.

Scorpions in Washington a couple years ago was definitely the best sound quality.

Standing in line to get let in for Mayday Parade with my girls at the HoB New Orleans. Girls already meet the singer and took pictures with him.

Just got back from seeing I the Mighty, Glass Cloud, Architects and Letlive. Damn good show, but fuck, it was like 110 in there and got hard to breathe. I recorded one of Architect's songs and I'll post the link when I get it on YouTube.

RE: Concerts
I was at this concert. Near the front. There are a couple of crowd shots that have me in them. Don't remember offhand which ones, though...

It was a blast. This was at the Glencoe campsite at the Sturgis bike rally. My little tribe has a campsite we always stake out there every year, and this chick who was there with us that year was a huge NB fan, and she dragged me to the show. Glad she did, it was a great show. Good times.

Saw Led Zeppelin on their last Euro tour (the one that didn't make it to the US). Was a disaster and a disappointment. They started and hour late, everyone was pissed, and Page was so fucked up they had to set him in a chair for his extended guitar solo....he was swaying and nearly falling out of the chair. Played like shit. A week or so later my brother went to another show of theirs and Bonzo passed out the first song. The drummer for Bad Co finished the rest of the night for him. Pathetic. A couple of weeks later, well, you know the rest.

Saw Rush, Styx (Paradise Theater tour -- WOW, theatrics!), Santana, Van Halen (still got one of Michael Anthony's picks form that), Kansas, Foreigner, BOC, and a bunch of others in Germany in the early 80's too. Lots of good memories....

Saw Hagar at Sturgis. He was fucked up. Disappoint.

I've seen concert videos where he was all over the place, dynamic, a fucking monster performer.

No more. Mas Tequila. SMH

RE: Concerts
Bringing this thread back to share a moment from a concert I literally just got back from.

The final act of the night, The Ghost Inside, dedicated their song "White Light" to a fan they had talked to last night at the previous show (that I also attended), who had just lost his cousin (the song itself is about the lead singer's experience in losing his younger brother). As the song started, the lead singer brought up the fan and let him sing the song until he broke down crying, at which point the lead singer took him to the side and hugged him for the rest of the song.

This was a great concert, and an even better night.

I am taking my kids to Attila tonight.

Recap - I did not enjoy this concert. I like heavy music, but this was just to much. The kids had fun.

Not looking forward to Black Friday but to Blue Friday! Going to see my favorite band at the House of Blues in Dallas. So excited!
