RE: Considering becoming a model builder again.
Well it takes time when one's hands are numb and the nerves dead in the arms. However at least I have begun on a Spitfire as a practice build.

Here are some shots of thing thus far.

Note: Many details yet to be added to what you see.

This has taken considerable time. I also have a Kannonvogel Stuka on the go for Rocket. Pictures of that can wait.

Spitfire first.

Here is the real thing.

RE: Considering becoming a model builder again.
I put the Spitfire on hold. I was not doing my best and wish to get a better cockpit for it.

So I have begun a Japanese Shinden kai "George".

Here's the cockpit.

RE: Considering becoming a model builder again.
Having had a little look at this thread now that my mind is clearing, it's an interesting ride. I thought it resembled a person who knew the destination but not the route.

As I was nearing the end of my scientific trial, I realised I'd been unable to model. So I put everything away, sold some old belongings to get new belongings, and devised a plan that touched on reality. Just. Smile

I went back to basics and devised a method. The important thing for me is the medical reason, e.g. the numb hands, it is dangerous, having numb hands and no immune system.

So the subject needed the following.

1. Long production run offering several Mk's.
2. Be simple.
3. Subject must be a constant sales product. (Easy to buy)
4. Old and uncomplex design in favour of modern complex equivalent.
5. Many opportunities for colouring and weathering needed.

So I chose the Bf109. Ha! Of all the planes out there... How to make it interesting? Well I decided to pretty much build as many as I needed to in order to restore my skills and dexterity. And whenever possible, put the aeroplane in non Nazi colours. Swiss, Finnish, Hungarian... Here's a list of the Mk's being built and colours worn, followed by some photos showing practice results.

109 E1. Condor legion.
109 E3. Swiss.
109 E4. (Subject as yet undecided.)
109 E4B. (jagdbomber) Hungarian.
109 F4. Regia Aeronautica.
109 G1. Luftwaffe.
109 G6, early run. Swiss or Finnish.
109 G6 late run. Swiss.
109 G14. Swiss.
109 K4. Luftwaffe.

10 109's may seem odd. However as a practice tool, it is IMO a great choice. There were two basic interior colours, a light greenish grey and a dark grey. There is a great deal of product, known as Aftermarket, available.

For example the G6. I am building two. In one the cockpit is the basic kit version with additions made by myself, the other will possess the following.

I had trouble learning how to build seat harnesses. Threading the buckles proved difficult. So I set aside 3 days and practiced nothing else. Here's a shot from when I began to get the hang of it.

What follows is a photographic record. I practiced on exhaust pipes, harnesses, instrument panels etc.

Amazing detail, what scale?
