Cool new WiFi Technology
A Japanese group has developed a much faster WiFi, using Resonant Tunneling technology.

Technology scares me. I think it's because I saw T2.

This doesn't seem like such a big deal. When they start offering computer chips that get implanted in our brains that will allow brain to brain communications, that will scare me. I would not be able to live in a world where the government can know your every thought. Not to mention, the next logical step would to become the borg with all the down sides and none of the perks.

It is scary to realize how much we rely on the internet as a means of knowledge in communication, and if you deny that you are foolish.

I don't deny that the internet is currently inportant. I however am not opposed to turning back to books if I am ever faced with a choice of link my brain with everybody else or be cut off from the internet. I hate crowds a lot, and am pretty sure I would go on a homocidal rampage if I had to deal with other people in my head.

Hmmm... only good for up to 33 feet? I'm sure they will find a way to improve that but at the moment it is little better than bluetooth as far as range, but the speed is nice. At the moment consider this the shotgun of Wi-fi.

And yet another interesting topic I am not interested in.

That is not the issue. The issue is that the entire world's economy and technological development depends on the internet as a method for transaction and communication. If the internet stopped working, the entire economy would come to a standstill, and nobody could easily communicate with each other.

For centuries we had no internet. There weren't even phones or any means of long range instant communication long ago and people did just fine. I value privacy, and that is something there is too little of. Cameras everywhere, government studying everything we say and do, and the government is fighting space travel with everything they have. I love the whole idea of some of these technologies, however many of them shrink our fish bowl even more.

Everytime a new technology is created and is beneificial, it will be used on a large scale and be adpated to society.

Examples: The wheel, X-rays, railroads, automotives, steam, coal, electricity, handtools, radios, phone, internet and all methods of using the internet.

Each one of these things was taken to the next level and used (still used) to benefit society. Albeit, many of these technologies have been manipulated by corporations and governement, but someone has to produce and regulate these, so thats the price we pay.

But I totally agree about privacy. That's why I won't be getting google fiber. Google has an agreement with U.S. goverment to report any activity they deem suspisicious under a number of categories. The obvious ones being terrorism threats and child porn. But they also look at stock trades, political groups, movie downloads, music downloads, tv downloads, book downloads, program downloads, etc. Essentially if you have typed it in google, it has a chance to be reported to some authority. If the search engine is apart of this, surely having them as an ISP, would make everything you do potentially reported to an authority, regardless of it's legality.

Not a fan.

And yet another interesting topic I am not interested in.
