RE: Country or State Symbols
Our national symbol is Bozkurt (Grey Wolf)

The wolf symbolizes honor and is also considered the mother of most Turkic people. The legend tells of a young boy who survived a raid on his village. A she-wolf finds the injured child and nurses him back to health. He subsequently impregnates the wolf which then gives birth to ten half-wolf, half-human boys. One of these, Ashina, becomes their leader and establishes the Ashina clan which ruled the Göktürks and other Turkic nomadic empires.

Florida's state flower is the orange blossom. The orange is also the state beverage and state fruit.

The state tree is the sabal palm.

The Florida state reptile is (you guessed it) the American Alligator.

The manatee is the Florida state marine mammal. They're closely related to elephants.

We also have a state pie, which is key lime pie.

I'll leave some for Full Circle to share. He can do the state fish and.... I should have left key lime pie for him to cover. Snooze you lose, FC!

mmmm..... I'll have to put Portland on my list of places to visit. I've had many a "pub crawl" but a " beer crawl" .... sounds right up my street, Tongue

Portland, Oregon is very popular among the Irish. I hear a lot of British Isle accents too. The weather is very similar. It's cold and rainy all the time so people stay inside, read books, brew beer and drink!

I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.
