Crimes Stopped by having a Gun
So since one of the main pro-gun arguments is the prevention of crime lets see what our tally is. I shall be a control since I have 0 guns and have only stopped about 10 crimes (all minor shoplifting related) so since being armed can prevent crimes I'm sure you all have many more heroics to relate.

RE: Crimes Stopped by having a Gun
One time my dad jumped off our roof onto a thief and tied his hands behind his back with a piece of rope. The thief had stole a lady's purse from the street and ran through our yard thinking it was abandoned because dad was building our new home (construction site). The police came to take over. Citizens arrest! Ha ha. Also my dad is a true badass.

I don't really think developing anecdotal stories to combat opposing anecdotal stories is the way to go about doing things, but one time I stopped some of my fellow minors from drinking alcohol. Drinking Beverage

RE: Crimes Stopped by having a Gun
If people carry guns on them they on occasion stop crimes that, if they had no gun with them, wouldn't have been possible to stop. However, that comes at the cost of more accidental deaths and more violent crimes involving firearms. If you don't have people carrying guns in public, some crimes will not be stopped, but there will be fewer incidences of violent crime resulting in mortal injuries, and there will be fewer accidents.

It's basically a 'choose your own adventure' situation where there will always be deaths caused by the choice you make.

If something can be destroyed by the truth, it might be worth destroying.

I don't follow your argument. You seem to be lumping the good guys in with the bad guys. Consider

RE: Crimes Stopped by having a Gun
The crime came to an end quick enough when it was the good guy who suddenly had the gun instead of the bad guy!

The good guy did not kill anyone while the gun was in his possession.
Dont try this at home!!

Crimes Stopped by having a Gun
I live in Oakland, thugs do as they wish because we all know they might be carrying a gun. So this lil assholes with falling pants get away with shit that would have their asses kicked in a rush otherwise.

If they knew that everyone is potentially carrying a gun as well... they might be a bit more respectful.... then I doubt the shitty attitude will be there.

Criminals do as they wish because they have guns, we don't OC or CC here so we are to their mercy, police have guns too that's why you call them in... Although, good luck with that in this town, they never show up.

There is armed mofos out there braking into houses and robbing cafes and restaurants. They would be less likely to do so if they knew their victims were armed.

I don't have firearms but I don't see the point of taking away weapons or ammo from legal owners when the fucking gangs and thugs are not gonna put theirs down. That is just plain stupid.

Plus, when the army took power in my country and killed our socialist president they did it successfully because the civilians weren't armed. Even if they wanted to fight them back, they were screwed. Know history to know destiny.

There is far more death in this country because of poor diet and sedentary lifestyle. So, fast food, sodas, ice cream and obesity should be a crime.

And to end, passionate murders due to jealousy are pretty popular. Monogamy should be illegal too.

Cool story bro, seriously. Didn't require dragons, it had all the sufficient elements required for a cool story including action, a hero that the reader could route for and a bad guy the reader to loath.

+10 points.

I've caught several kids shop lifting at the gas station (no gun needed).
I bus load of kids stopped once and the guy I was working with was keeping a suspicious eye on them. Once they were about to leave he found sunglasses tags (top3 most stolen items, you'll never guess the top stolen item...) and marched onto their bus, down the isle (yes I know wrong spelling, sue me) and dragged the culprits off the bus and into my managers office. Much to the dismay of the teacher of the children, though he was much less sympathetic when he discovered why they were being dragged into our managers office by this big black guy...

A local dairy operator, a guy that all the locals love, was held up by a guy with a machete. The dairy owner guy jumped over the counter and beat the guy up. Total bad ass, especially if you've seen him, skinny Asian guy. I guess it's true, all Asians know kung fu.

Oh wait, I have one. A story that was in the news a while back. A guy held up a shop with a machete and the store owner pulled out a shotgun from under the counter and shot him in the gut.
I remember it because everyone supported the shop owner and the courts did too and let him off. The guy that tried to rob the place survived regrettably.
Could have been worst if if he was being robbed by a guy with a gun though.

Also note that the bad guy from the above video doesn't look like he bothered to cover his face so as to keep the victim from identifying him later on. In which case I guess you could pray he doesn't blow your head off, or that pepper spray will disable his trigger finger. 50/50. It's your call.
