It's happening, folks. Ted Cruz dropped out of the race after his loss in Indiana tonight. There's nobody to stop Trump from becoming the Republican nominee now.

At least she harmed fewer people than she did at HP.

RE: Cruz - Fiorina ticket
If Trump picks a strong VP that the establishment can get behind then I think he can beat Clinton in the fall. This country would have been in worse shape with Cruz as the president only because he would have pushed a religious freedom agenda very hard. I'm not sure what Trump's religious position is but with him maybe this country will start leaning a little more secular and less theistic.

Even if Trump is unlikely to win, the fact that he can be put forward as a serious candidate shows that your system is broken as fuck, and no matter that it seems unlikely, he could very well end up in the white house. Rolleyes Well, I guess time to see if all the democratic institutions of your country actually do function and can prevent a rogue president from completely fucking things up. After Bush I'm not confident that they can.

Why not?

Because he's the least popular nominee in modern times. Now it's possible with him running against Clinton that this will all be somehow canceled out, but she seems to have much broader support from her own party than Trump does from the GOP. He'd have to get the luke-warm GOP voters to the polls and get more than half the independents to vote for him to win.

I'm assuming it's just a long shot theory, but he also has to hope that the GOP doesn't decide to throw the election to gain seats in congress and run another conservative candidate to drum up down ballot votes.

I hear you. I don't think it will be easy for Trump. I'm not predicting a landslide victory for Trump. I do think he wins however. I see 1 of 4 scenarios taking place:

1: After choosing a VP candidate that wins back the conservative base, Trump wins the states Romney won, in addition to Florida (a state he is extremely popular in) then takes swing states that Obama policies have hurt economically. These states have low % of Hispanic voters, high % of white voters (Ohio, Virginia, maybe Pennsylvania). Reagan Democrats rejoin the GOP, as well as the majority of independents that are concerned about jobs.

2: Clinton gets indicted after the convention but before the election. She maintains her innocence, stays in the race, but loses the independent vote and Trump wins.

3: Clinton gets indicted after the convention but before the election, drops out, and leaves Trump to run against the libertarian and green party candidates.

4. Hillary gets indicted BEFORE the convention. Super delegates switch to Bernie giving him the nomination. Bernie is crushed by anti socialism attack ads. America is not ready for socialism.
