Curiosity is landing soon!
Within a week Curiosity is landing on Mars... Either as a brand new crater or a shiny new toy.

I'm here biting my nails hoping everything works! It's make or break time.

It will be awesome getting high definition footage and panoramic views of Mars.

This rover makes the old ones look like cheap junk. The scientific instruments combined with being nuclear powered (for lots of grunt and uninterrupted operation day and night)

It's just mind blowing... What this little vehicle is capable of.

RE: Curiosity is landing soon!
I watched BBC's Horizon last night, which gave the background of previous Mars missions and detailed the structure, design and goals of Curiosity.

Like you, I also hope that it makes it to the surface. I am especially nervous about the success rate after seeing the deployment mechanism. The descent by jets seems a bit perilous... and the final galley-drop-by-cable just seems too bizarre to work. I hope I'm wrong.

Just another NASA fake. You know there's proof that all those "Mars" photos were taken in the Australian outback.Yes

What a scam. All those "scientists" livin' large off the 'funding'.Dodgy

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Haha.. those conspiracy nuts seem to forget that funding for space is roughly 1% of America's military spending. It's a fucking joke when you think what we'd be capable of if that money was spent getting into space.

If America controlled space America would be the most terrifying world power and no-one would dare question that.

Kinetic energy weapons FTW...

But this topic is for another thread/forum.. I want to dedicate this thread to the rover..

Wow!

I'm just checking my Quran to find the bit that predicted this amazing design achievement.

...

...

I know it's in here somewhere.

I too am eagerly anticipating the first images back. When the first ones came back from the rovers I looked upon them with awe from the accomplishment and such clear images of another freakin planet. I can't wait!

I thought I'd put up a comparison shot. I can't wait for some new pics! Smile

July 5, 2012: From fresh rover tracks to an impact crater blasted billions of years ago, a newly completed view from the panoramic camera (Pancam) on NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity shows the ruddy terrain around the outcrop where the long-lived explorer spent its most recent Martian winter.
