When I was in my very early 20s I was hit with a cell phone bill that wasn't correct. They wouldn't fix and sent it to a debt collector. I never paid that shit despite recieving letters threatening lawsuit for like 7 years. I never paid and after 7 years they have to drop it so yeah...I'm sure my credit sucked during that period so I'm not recommending it Wink

No idea how the credit will be affected. What does it mean?

I don't have a credit card. My phone bill and internet are pay as you go. I'm willing to have them go fuck themselves, but if it makes me unable to apply for loans with uni then I'm well and truly FUCKED.

Yes, it could ding your credit score. I'd call and ask about payment plans or find a REPUTABLE debt settlement company.

Consider Never been before.

It's nice enough.
(I'm there, after all)

But seriously. If resting your head in a new space for a couple days would be helpful I'd be honoured to oblige.

RE: Current life progress report: sucks.
Also if they've already sent it to a collection agency, it's most likely already affecting your credit.

90 days until it gets to the credit. But I wouldn't doubt it.

Finding a reputable Debt collections agency. But I'm already with one currently - how do I get out of the current one?

Right now? Seems to have stopped raining. Here, at least.

But, prevailing weather patterns at our latitude go west to east, so maybe it's not clear down Bytown way yet.

I'm not an expert so I'm not sure. This looks like a good starting point for more info: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/015...-debt#debt

Thanks for that! I think I'll have to put it on hold. I can almost taste ink on my fingers how much paper gathering I did these past few weeks to understand the shithole I'm in.

I'm trying not to take that as condescending. I hope it wasn't meant to be.
