It is reaching a tipping point where there will be a red state/blue state divide that will end up in the courts and (unless conservatives managed to stack the court in the next few years) will end up with a Loving v Virginia decision. There is no legal precedent to rule in favor of discrimination and as long as it is the rule for some it must be the rule for all.

I love this comment from a NY Times reader:

"With California now poised to recognize same-sex marriages;

"30.24% of US citizens live in an equal marriage state.

"0% of US citizens can claim that their traditional marriage has been affected in any way whatsoever."

Religious disputes are like arguments in a madhouse over which inmate really is Napoleon.

A federal union makes for complexity. I wish the EU were, but that's another problem entirely.

Does it mean a couple wanting to marry in one of the states where it's not currently legal can challenge the state to change its law? Like, if I understand, California must.

No, the court left in place the separation of power that leave to the states the codifying of marriage. They did not declare prop 8 unconstitutional only that the people that were prosecuting it did not have legal standing to do so, since the state of california had decided not to appeal the lower courts decision.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you're a gay illegal immigrant looking to get a proper, high-quality college education at "low cost" (i.e., in-state tuition cost), come to The People's Republic of Maryland. We got your back. ... Why we do this sorta shit you might ask? 'Cause that's why we got the highest median household income in the US, bitches. Tongue

I am us and we is me. ... bitches.

Despite my spite for marraige....
Why don't we make it mandatory that laws against gay marraige have to have written into them "extras"? If you don't want homosexuals to have the right to marry, then watching lesbian porn is now a felony Undecided Watch the fervor vanish instantly. Can you hear the crickets?
These Aholes are full of Censored
