Daily youtube video w/ breakdown: aka Happy Time Dance Party BBQ Sauce
So here's the deal. I want people to post a video from youtube or wherever. This should be a music video of a song that you like/love. And I want you to explain which parts you especially like and why.

Limit one vid per post and one post per day. That way this doesn't become a spam party.

I'm doing this, one, to find new music that I may like, and two, to see why people like the music they do. The songs can be old or new, any genre, whatever ticks your clock.

LEGAL: DeepThought, if there's an issue with this, let me know. There shouldn't be any copyright problems since youtube would still be the host, and the embeds are just portals to the source. I don't know if the forum is designed to handle an overload of videos, but I've never seen a problem with similar forum templates.

I'll start with some Korn.

Let me take you on a textual journey of this song.

0:00-0:21 Starts off like a Ratatat song, soothing, gets your head nodding (the influence of Skrillex), nice buildup to...

0:22 BLAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOWWWW I find it hard to not start head banging here. The official "this song just started" explosion.

0:30 The chorus kicks off and the video has you travelling down a road with very strange things surrounding you. I take this personally to be a visual representation of travelling down the road to your life, with only flashes of memories and jumbled bits of recollections. Doesn't quite make sense to you, but you get a sense of the familiar.

0:58 As a 29 year old who has hit some serious life speed bumps, these lyrics really hit home for me.

"Sometimes I hate, the life I made.
Everything is wrong every time.
Pushing on I can't escape.
Everything that comes my way
Is haunting me, taking its sweet time.

Holding on, I'm lost in a haze,
Fighting life til the end of my days."

Perfect! I'm 29 and my life isn't going how I had planned when I was younger. I hate the life I made. I feel trapped, can't escape. And I'm trying to push past all this bullshit and it seems to be taking forever. Fighting life to the end of my days. A perfect way to describe how I feel. I'm not living life. I'm fighting it. Every day it throws new bullshit at me and I have to fight through it day after day until I die.

I also love the video because even though everyone there has similar problems, they are lost in the song and enjoying the one brief moment as a singular crowd.

2:32 Sounds like the calm before the storm. The pin drop silence right before a bomb drops.

2:34 The bomb drops.

There. I got it started. You don't have to use my format. It's your video choice, express it how you want.

"Ain't got no last words to say, yellow streak right up my spine. The gun in my mouth was real and the taste blew my mind."

"We see you cry. We turn your head. Then we slap your face. We see you try. We see you fail. Some things never change."

Metaphorically the words "big white room" is the inside of my brain.....my version of reality......my identity.

For no matter how much I use these symbols, to describe symptoms of my existence.
You are your own emphasis.
So I say nothing.

My one for today is the song Anywhere But Here by the Sick Puppies.

The video is a user-made compilation of scenes from the movie Stay, and it's really better than the movie itself. You can fill in a better plot and dialogue in your head.

No in-depth analysis really needed.

Reminds me of when I was mega heavily into drugs as a youngster.

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of shit
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

For no matter how much I use these symbols, to describe symptoms of my existence.
You are your own emphasis.
So I say nothing.

I have several old songs saved at you tube, but this is one of my favorite newer songs.

Why do I like it? Because I am Judas and think Lady Gaga is very cute Heart

Big Grin Not really, I just see it as kinda rebellious and has a beat that moves me

Somebody that I used to know

This song describes eerily perfect my relation with my ex-wife. but ther is something weird going on.
Both the male an the female verse describes my feelings (blue) and the chorus describes hers (green). Very bizarre when I first heard it.

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
I told myself that you were right for me,
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger And that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect you records And then change your number Guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believin it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna' live that way, reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go, and I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know-oh-oh

But you didn't have cut me out
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing (oh)
I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough (oh)
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect you records And then change your number (oh) Guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Well so far I don't see a problem, though the page does get sluggish when loading all these vids.

Here's my next vid. Blue October is one of my secret loves. Secret due to the fact that Justin (the lead singer) is a fan of eye shadow and feminine movements (he claims to be straight, but you get that feeling... not that it really matters... I mean I also like AFI and that dude is as flaming as Adam whatshisface from Idol).

But damn it if he doesn't write some of the best lyrics ever.

Starting with the chorus:

"I want to swim away but don't know how
Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean
Let the waves up take me down
Let the hurricane set in motion... yeah
Let the rain of what I feel right now...come down
Let the rain come down"

-The helplessness of life and the feeling of treading water in the ocean is a perfect analogy. Let the waves up and take me down. That wish in the back of your head secretly hoping that it would just end. Just get it over with so I can stop struggling to stay afloat.

"Where is the coastguard
I keep looking each direction
For a spotlight, give me something
I need something for protection
Maybe flotsam junk will do just fine
the jetsam sunk, I'm left behind
I'm treading for my life believe me
(How can I keep up this breathing)"

-Looking for anything to save you. Any sign of hope.

"Not knowing how to think
I scream aloud, begin to sink
My legs and arms are broken down
With envy for the solid ground
I'm reaching for the life within me
How can one man stop his ending
I thought of just your face
Relaxed, and floated into space"

-The final stages of struggle and finally, acceptance. Just grab hold of one happy thought and give in.

"Now waking to the sun
I calculate what I had done
Like jumping from the bow (yeah)
Just to prove that I knew how (yeah)
It's midnight's late reminder of
The loss of her, the one I love
My will to quickly end it all
Set front row in my need to fall

Into the ocean, end it all (goodbye)"

-Just beautiful lyrics.

Now I shall have to post death metal videos to reaffirm my masculinity. SO ANGRY GRRRRRAWWWWWLLLLL!

"Ain't got no last words to say, yellow streak right up my spine. The gun in my mouth was real and the taste blew my mind."

"We see you cry. We turn your head. Then we slap your face. We see you try. We see you fail. Some things never change."
