Damn! Kepler telescope...
The Kepler telescope (in orbit around the sun) was launched to search for extrasolar planets, and has done an excellent job.

But 2 of its 4 gyroscopic reaction wheels used to point the telescope, have failed.

It can no longer be pointed accurately enough for that mission.

They will send a better higher resolution satelite with improved range.

Give it a few years.

Just to clarify. The mission was in no way a "failure". The craft performed longer than was originally planned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kepler_%28spacecraft%29

Yes, it has been marvelously successful.
They're now looking at giving it a new mission that is within its limited pointing capability. The telescope is working just fine.
